How to Lock and Edit a Page in the Experience Editor

Locking a page in Sitecore prevents multiple users from making changes to the same page at the same time. Once the page has been locked, the user is then able to make any necessary changes.

Step 1: Navigate to the page.

Navigate to the page you wish to edit in the Sitecore tree and select it.

Step 2: Lock and edit the page.

Click “Lock and Edit” at the top of the page. Under the “Home” tab of the Sitecore ribbon, click “Experience Editor.” The Experience Editor will open in a new tab where you can proceed to make any edits or changes.

Please note that when locking and editing a page, a new version of the page is automatically created. This is indicated by a change in the number near the top right corner of the browser window. Sitecore keeps the 10 most recent versions of any page or item.
