    Vanity URLs, also known as “marketing URLs,” are preferable for several communication applications such as print and specialty items.

    Here is an example of a vanity URL:

    bsu.edu/strategiccommunications points to http://www.bsu.edu/about/administrativeoffices/strategic-communications

    Uses for Vanity URLs

    Vanity URLs are great for publications and other physical media. On the web (including email, social media, digital advertisements, and web pages) vanity URLs—with few exceptions—are not typically needed.

    To request a new vanity URL or update to an existing one, complete the request form with the following information.

    • vanity URL
    • target URL (link to the live page)
    • date when the URL will need to be active
    • reason for request
    • contact name (if different from the person who submits the request)
